Professor Thomas J. Kosnik
Tom Kosnik has been a Lecturer at Stanford Engineering, Department of Management Science and Engineering since 1990. He is also a consulting professor for National University of Singapore Overseas Colleges Program in Silicon Valley. His current Stanford courses include Global Entrepreneurial Marketing, Technology Entrepreneurship, and Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders Program. He also teaches New Venture Creation for National University of Singapore. He taught Marketing at Harvard Business School from 1985-89, and launched HBS’s Entrepreneurial Marketing course in 1995-97. Kosnik is also a coauthor of Ramfelt, Kjellberg and Kosnik (2014) Gear Up: Test Your Business Model Potential and Plan your Path to Success, John Wiley and Sons.
Tom has worked with over 100 startups since 1978. He also provides consulting and executive education to global companies in imagination intensive industries. Some of his past clients include American Management Systems, Apple Computer, Applied Materials, Electronic Arts, Ericsson, Ernst & Young, Genesys, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, Nuance Communications, and numerous startups.
Tom is a Member of Business Advisory Council of Illuminate Partners. He is also a Member of Board of Advisors of the Business Association at Stanford Engineering Students (BASES) and the National University of Singapore Entrepreneurship Association (NUSEA). He is a Member of the Advisory Board at Stage 1 Ventures, LLC. Dr. Kosnik has also provided guidance to the Stanford Entrepreneurs’ Challenge since 1996 and numerous Global Business Plan competitions since 2000. He also writes & consults on negotiating across the Triple Chasms of Generation, Gender and Culture.
Tom earned a Ph.D. from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1986, an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1977, and a B.A. in History and International Relations from Duke University in 1972.
Melinda N. Wiria
Melinda N. Wiria is a capital market professional, business consultant and university lecturer. Melinda currently assumes the role of Co-Founder and Executive Director for Indonesia Cyber Security Forum (ICSF) and Indonesia Chief Information Officers (id.CIO) Forum. Aside from those two roles, she is the Advisor to CEO of cloud computing consultant PointStar and the Managing Director of Sinergia Consulting – both companies are based in Singapore. She also manages the Alam Sutera branch of CIMB Securities. Starting in 2015, Melinda has been part of Binus International’s faculty, teaching marketing and entrepreneurship.
Prior to her current roles, Melinda had worked for more than seven years in the asset management industry, serving the roles of Institutional Sales and Marketing Communication at multinational asset managers BNP Paribas Investment Partners Indonesia, Manulife Asset Management Indonesia and First State Investments Indonesia. Melinda started her career as a cash management product manager for Citi Indonesia’s corporate banking division.
Melinda earned her Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadephia, Pennsylvania, USA. She also holds a Master of Science in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, USA. Professionally, she holds the Investment Manager’s License (“Wakil Manajer Investasi”/WMI) from the Indonesian Financial Service Authority (OJK).
Melinda’s personal interests include finance and investing, psychology, medicine, human resources, leadership, gastronomy, sales and marketing, entrepreneurship, education, mentoring and tennis.
